Welcome to The Omar. We are in the one and only 1923 Historic Omar Baking Building. We have moved from the west end of the building to a new location on the east end. Our space will accommodate up to 300 for a seated dinner or 450 for a cocktail only event. We have all of our original historic brick and windows, 3 skylights, a beautiful 16′ black marble Art-Deco bar, 40′ outdoor elevated deck, a large catering kitchen, as well as plenty of free parking. We would love to host your event. We supply all of the tables and chairs as well as set them up and tear them down. We have hosted many nonprofit and corporate events as well as elegant weddings and receptions. Come and check us out for your next event.
The Omar Baking Building once housed a business that filled its midtown neighborhood with the smells of baking bread. Although no longer a bakery, the building is an anchor in its neighborhood, now that it is restored and re-purposed into office and event space for the arts, physical fitness, corporate business offices, and one of the city’s largest event venues.
Erected in 1923, the Omar Baking Building was one of four in the Midwest, with additional bakeries in Milwaukee, Columbus, and Indianapolis. The 37 Omar mills across the country produced the highest quality flour. Omar employees delivered bread and other baked goods to homes and retail outlets.
